CLEBURNE — The Midlothian Panther soccer girls were held scoreless for 76 minutes before erupting late for a 2-0 victory over Cleburne Friday night to stay undefeated in District 14-5A play.

The Panthers, ranked No. 8 in Class 5A by the Texas Girls Coaches Association, scored two goals in the final four minutes for the victory. Elizabeth "Lizzie" Simpson got the game winner 76 minutes into the match before Mariah Griffin hammered home the second from a Kaleigh Naizer assist in the 80th and final minute.

Zoe Boldt logged the shutout behind the strong Panther defense.

The Panthers (14-1-2, 8-0) had an open date on Tuesday. They will host Joshua at the W.G. Roesler Athletic Complex on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. and will travel to Ennis next Tuesday.

14-5A boys: MHS 2, Cleburne 1

CLEBURNE — The Midlothian Panther soccer boys trailed most of the game before equalizing, then earning the 2-1 win in the waning moments of their road match at Cleburne on Friday.

Justin Barnett buried the equalizer into the upper 90 from a Jairo Moreno assist with exactly 1:00 left on the clock, but the Panthers weren't finished yet. Barnett then
assisted Tanner Henderson's tap in 22 seconds later with :38 left on the clock.

The Panthers (7-4-7, 4-0-4) had the district bye on Tuesday and will host Joshua on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Roesler Complex. They will also travel to Ennis next Tuesday.
