Midlothian High School senior Ethan Lemley is one of a dozen recipients of a scholarship from the Texas High School Coaches Association, the THSCA announced recently.
The THSCA awards scholarships annually to graduating seniors who are children of active members of the association.
Lemley was named as a recipient of a $2,000 scholarship from the THSCA. He is the son of Steven Lemley, who joined the MHS coaching staff in 2017 after serving as defensive coordinator at Cedar Hill for 12 years, where he won three state championships with former Longhorns head football coach Joey McGuire.
McGuire left Cedar Hill after the 2016 season to join the Baylor University coaching staff, where he remains today. McGuire was retained by new Bears head coach Dave Aranda after former head coach Matt Rhule bolted for the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.
Ethan Lemley verbally committed to East Texas Baptist University in February during the football signing period.
Lemley, a 6-foot, 200-pound outside linebacker, was named first-team all-District 5-5A (Division II) at the end of the 2019 season and is also a two-time member of the All-Ellis County football team. Lemley finished with 53 total tackles in his senior year.
