Monday is the final day for Ellis County voters to register for the July 14 primary runoff election for county sheriff.


On the Republican ballot for the runoff are Chuck Edge, the incumbent Ellis County Sheriff, and challenger Brad Norman. Neither candidate obtained a majority in the March 3 primary.


Early voting begins Monday, June 29, and will take place at five locations within the county:


• Ellis County Elections Administration office at 204 E. Jefferson St. in Waxahachie;


• Midlothian Conference Center at 1 Community Circle Drive in Midlothian;


• Palmer ISD Administration Building at 303 Bulldog Way in Palmer;


• Ellis County Sub-Courthouse at 207 S. Sonoma Trail in Ennis; and


• Grace Covenant Church at 212 N. Main St. in Red Oak.


Early voting locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from June 29 to July 2, and will be closed July 3 and 4 for the Independence Day holiday. They will be open Sunday, July 5 from 1-5 p.m.


All five early voting locations will be open from July 6-10. The Elections Administration office will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. The other four locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 6-8 and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 9-10.


Absentee application (by regular or federal postcard) for ballot by mail should be mailed to: Early Voting Clerk, 204 E. Jefferson St., Waxahachie, TX 75165, faxed to 972-923-5194, or email a scanned copy of signed application to elections@co.ellis.tx.us. If faxed or emailed, the Election Office must receive original application within four days. Application for ballot by mail must be received no later than close of business on Thursday, July 2.


Polling locations for the July 14 vote are available on the Ellis County Elections website at www.co.ellis.tx.us/elections. They will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day.
