CRANDALL — Before the varsity football team was busy handing the Pirates a loss, the boys and girls tennis teams were handing Crandall High School its first defeat of the day.

The Midlothian Heritage High School tennis teams earned their second win during their match against Crandall High School on Friday at Crandall High School Tennis Courts.

The Jaguars and Lady Jaguars beat the consolidated Pirate teams 18-1, giving them an ample amount of momentum going into this week's district schedule.

The win comes a week after the Jaguars lost to a Kaufman High School team that placed third in the 4A State Team Tennis Tournament in 2015.

"This was a great opportunity for the Jags to get to play a team of this caliber, head coach Lexi Yeado said. "Although there were many close matches, the team eventually fell 1-18. Sophomore Chelsea Wilson earned the team's sole win at the No. 2 girls singles spot-a super tough position to earn a win at."

Other close matches included No. 5 boys singles player, Carter Lucas, who lost in a tie breaker, freshman Haylie Hunger who was up 7-6, then lost 7-9 to a junior Kaufman player and the No. 2 girls doubles team of Katie DeSelle and Haylie Hunger who lost 4-6 and 5-7.
