After 15-point loss to Life, Jags explode in rout of district foe Eagles

HILLSBORO — Bouncing back from a loss to begin the new calendar year, the Heritage High School boys’ basketball team traveled to Hillsboro on Friday night and came away with a 71-34 blowout win in District 11-4A play.

Will Haralson finished with 13 points, and Carrington Casteel added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Jaguars. Other scorers were Hayden Wilson with nine points on three 3-pointers, Greg Johnson also with nine points, Austin Walts with four, Austin Craft with three, and Lawrence Arnold with two.

The host Eagles stuck around and kept it an 18-14 game halfway into the second quarter until Wilson’s first 3-pointer sparked the Jags on a 19-2 run to blow the game open. HHS led 62-30 after three quarters.

The Jags returned to 11-4A action from the holidays at home against Life Waxahachie on Tuesday night and suffered their first district loss of the season, 43-28, to the Mustangs.

The Jags (12-10, 2-1) had a district bye on Tuesday. They will play at HHS Arena against Ferris on Friday night and will host Alvarado next Tuesday, with both games tipping off at 7 p.m.
