HHS suffers first district loss after going for two and the lead in final minutes

The Heritage freshman football team played game number 9 Thursday night vs. Stephenville. The Jaguars lost their first district game, 34-33, in a highly-contested and hard-fought battle. 

The Jaguars found themselves down by 13 twice, and battled back each time to tie, and eventually lose while going for two in the final minutes of the game, The Jaguars season record moves to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in district.

Scoring for the Jaguars were Carter Rutenbar with one rushing and two passing touchdowns, Lane Hargrove with a receiving touchdown, Landon Wright with a receiving touchdown and Jacob Franco with two rushing touchdowns. Freeman Robinson made some big plays on offense as well. The offense played well, led by the men in the trenches, Belcher, Winn, Farnsworth, Boswell, and Massey. Pato Cantu converted 3 extra points.

The defense battled the entire game, with the front 7 getting numerous tackles for loss, and the secondary making big hits and pass breakups.  

The next game is Thursday, Nov. 5 vs. Alvarado to close out the season.
