MHS netters make great showing at district

Pena wins 14-5A girls’ singles title as 5 advance to regionals

The Midlothian High School boys' tennis team finished second at the District 14-5A tournament last week. Members of the team are, from left: Caelan Weiss, Candon Birdwell, Nathan Varghese, Caleb Workman, Jason McKinney, Nathan Sandoval, and Brock Thompson.

The Midlothian Panther tennis team, led by head coach Sam Wrinkle, represented their program well in the District 14-5A tournament held at their home courts on Monday and Tuesday, April 12 and 13. Here are some of the highlights from the two-day event.

1ST – Ennis, 17 points

2ND – Midlothian, 6.5 points

3RD – Corsicana, 4.5 points

3RD – Midlothian, 8.5 points

4th Place – Mixed Doubles – Depew / Churchill

The Panthers that advance to the Class 5A Region II tennis tournament to be played on April 27 and 28 at the courts of McKinney Tennis Center are the 1st and 2nd place winners, and 3rd place players attend as “alternates.”
