Midlothian Fire Department units responded on Sunday afternoon to a major wildfire near DeSoto that led to the evacuation of some residents. Shortly before 1 p.m., emergency crews were notified of a fire near Keswick Drive in DeSoto, said Matt Smith, a spokesman for the city.
The Midlothian Planning and Zoning Commission approved a planned development along U.S. Highway 287 east of Shady Grove Road, and amended the MidTowne development to allow for alterations at its June 21 meeting.
Following a string of dry days in North Texas the Ellis County Commissioners Court on Tuesday issued a burn ban for 90 days. The ban prohibits outdoor burning in unincorporated areas of the county, with some exceptions.
