Walmart storage request gains approval

A long-running dispute with Walmart Supercenter over temporary shipping containers achieved resolution before a divided Midlothian City Council during last Tuesday’s regular meeting. An amendment to a planned development to allow Walmart to use containers for seasonal storage was approved with a narrow 4-3 vote, after a motion to deny failed by the same vote.

Uvalde children grappling with trauma after massacre

UVALDE — One girl runs and hides when she sees thin people with long hair similar to the gunman who stormed into her Uvalde school and killed 21 people. One boy stopped making friends and playing with animals. A third child feels her heart race when she’s reminded of the May 24 massacre that killed a close friend — once at such a dangerous pace that she had to be rushed to a hospital, where she stayed for weeks.

Buescher triumphs at Bristol as playoff feld is trimmed to 12

With Chase Elliott pursuing him relentlessly for the final 50 laps, Chris Buescher held on to win Saturday’s Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motors Speedway, becoming the 19th different NASCAR Cup Series winner this season. After the event that set the field for the Round of 12 in the series Playoffs—and eliminated superstars Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick from the postseason—a dozen drivers were breathing sighs of relief and hoping fervently for a return to stock car sanity in the next round.

Luke, how do you prepare wild pork?

We have an abundance of free, wild pork roaming the hills and creek bottoms across most of the Lone Star State. Yes, larger boars, if they are in good condition and not actively breeding, make excellent table fare but the meat does need to be tenderized before cooking. Younger animals obviously are tenderer and require less time to prepare. I’m often quizzed about cooking wild pork.
