That sage advice, “the job ain’t over until the paperwork is done” serves us well during potty training and for the rest of our lives. In the old days in elementary school, math teachers made us show our work, even if we could do the calculations in our heads.

Council rejects ‘sanctuary city’ ordinance

In front of a packed room at City Hall last Tuesday, the Midlothian City Council narrowly rejected an ordinance that would outlaw abortion and makes the city a “sanctuary city for the unborn.” However, the measure is likely to be placed before voters in a May 2023 referendum. Mayor Pro Tem Justin Coffman’s motion for the council to approve the ordinance outright failed by a 4-3 vote, with councilmembers Anna Hammonds and Hud Hartson voting in favor along with Coffman, and Mayor Richard Reno, Wayne Sibley, Walter Darrach and Clark Wickliffe voting against.
