Conservation license plate program updates classic tag

AUSTIN — Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is asking Texans to help it revamp a classic license plate in recognition of the 25th anniversary of its Conservation License Plate Program (CLPP) that has helped fund Texas fisheries, state parks, wildlife management, research and other conservation projects. Voters can help decide between three potential designs to update TPWD’s horned lizard license plate, the first conservation plate offered to Texas residents.

Ice cream shop gets licked … for now

With a large audience showing up to City Hall mostly in opposition, a divided Midlothian City Council spent more than two hours Tuesday night discussing a downtown planned development for an expanded ice cream shop at 105 South 4rd Street. In the end, following numerous comments from the public, the council voted 4-3 to deny the proposal without prejudice and directed staff to set up a workshop to discuss the matter.

Local students receive honors from SHSU

HUNTSVILLE— The students listed on the President's Honor Roll at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, are undergraduates who have achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average in all work attempted while enrolled in not less than 12 semester hours. The university would like to recognize the following Midlothian students for earning the honor for Spring 2025 semester.
