1. What are the most pressing challenges facing our community at a local level right now?
a. would say preparation for the growth;
b. limit high density housing;
c. are the city and school district in sync regarding the growth?;
d. Getting the buildings passed in the bond built ASAP.
2. Considering the evolving media landscape, what role do you see local newspapers playing in the community five years from now?
Local print newspaper will always have a place for the older population.
As we transition from 2020’s to 2030’s local print will become less appealing where a monthly news guide may become prominent along with a strong local website and social media pages.
3. In your opinion, what role should our newspaper play in promoting civic participation and community involvement?
A strong physical presence at the events of our town and more brand marketing is definitely needed for the newcomers to this town. Sadly, my guess is less that 15% of this population can relate to the Mirror now.
4. What community events or activities do you believe our newspaper should cover to better connect with our residents?
I believe there should be a media presence at every major event the city/MISD & chamber has. maybe establish an AM station like KBEC to help people get more details about what’s happening here on a consistent basis.
5. Considering the current economic landscape, how can our newspaper support local businesses and contribute to economic growth in the community?
The key to any successful media presence is branding. You have to make a concerted effort to ensure this brand is recognized everywhere in this town. Get sponsorships to help with costs but get in front as many people as you possibly can. Have your own event or sponsor one with mass attendance.
