Midlothian Fishing Derby

Saturday, May 31, 8:45 a.m.-2 p.m.

Midlothian Community Park, 3601 South 14th St.

The 14th Annual Fishing Derby is a fun, competitive event for kids 4 to 12 years old. Event fills quickly, so register soon. Participants supply their own fishing gear and bait. Children must be accompanied by an adult, but volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and assist. Kids will compete in two age divisions, 4 to 7 years old (9 to 10:30 a.m.) and 8 to 12 years old (11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.). Awards will be given for first, second, and third place in both divisions, the biggest fish, and an overall champion. A fishing license is not required. Space is limited, so don’t delay. No onsite registration will be available.

Ellis County Art Association

Monday, June 2, 6 p.m.

First Baptist Church Waxahachie, 450 U.S. 287 Bypass

Ellis County Art Association meets the first Monday of every month (except for holidays). Meetings are free and open to the public and include an art demonstration. This month’s demonstration will be by Texas artist Gene Dillard.

Midlothian Rotary Club Meeting

Movies in the Park: Moana 2

A free showing of Disney’s Moana 2. Bring chairs and blankets for lawn seating. Bring your own snacks. Popcorn and water will be provided. Souvenir giveaways and prize drawing happen before the movie. Movies begin at dark. Rain-out date for this event is June 21.

The Midlothian Conference Center’s Annual Daddy-Daughter Dance tickets are on sale. The theme for this year’s dance is Let’s have a wicked time. Dads and daughters are encouraged to wear theme-related costumes. The evening includes a meal, dancing, and photo opportunities.
