MISD forms facilities planning committee

The Midlothian Independent School District is putting together a facilities committee made up of local residents to look into future needs as the district grows rapidly.

MISD announced on its website that it is seeking citizens to serve on the 2025 Midlothian ISD Facility Planning Committee. This group will be asked to evaluate, assess, and prioritize facility needs to help ensure the district is prepared for growth and providing the best learning environments possible for all Midlothian ISD students.

Ultimately, representatives from this group will report their findings and recommendations to the MISD Board of Trustees.

“Our goal is to form a committee that represents a true cross-section of the community,” MISD stated in ikts announcement. “In order to do this, approximately 80 people will be selected who have a variety of backgrounds, live in different geographic areas of the district, and who represent various groups. We want a committee that includes parents of current, former, and/or future students, business representatives, leaders from civic organizations and religious communities, alumni, teachers, and a couple of high school students.”

According to the district, the committee will meet six times, with meetings beginning in early May and most likely concluding in mid July. An interest form is posted on the MISD website to provide one’s name, contact information, and brief information about one’s background that will help the district identify members who represent a cross-section of the community. All committee members must reside within Midlothian ISD boundaries.

“Thank you for your interest and your willingness to serve the students, staff, and community of MISD,” the announcement concludes. “Those who are selected to serve on the committee will receive an invitation by Wednesday, April 30, 2025.”
