Midlothian’s Annual Independence Day Parade will honor celebrations across America on Saturday, June 28, 10 a.m., downtown.
Organized by Midlothian Parks and Recreation Department and sponsored by Methodist Midlothian Medical Center and Marco’s Pizza, the parade steps off from the base of the 8th Street bridge, travels south to West Avenue F and ends at Overlook Drive. Parade participants will proceed to the Walmart parking lot to disburse.
Whether observing the holiday with fireworks or boat parades, at a block party in the Bronx or cookout on the beach, this year’s parade celebrates the many and varied ways America hails the birth of our country. Honors will be awarded for Best Use of Theme, Best Decorated, Best Animal Entry, and Mayor’s Choice.
In addition to the parade, the community can enjoy food vendors and artisans at Heritage Park. Following the parade, American Legion Post 388, will hold its annual free community cookout at Kimmel Park, 801 W. Avenue F, until 2 p.m. while supplies last.
Parade registration is open now through June 23. Vendor registration is open till June 20. For registration and information, visit www.midlothian.tx.us/IDParade.
