Nelson-ex Watson signs with Cardinals

Michael Watson, a former pitcher for the Nelson University Lions and a native of Glen Rose, has achieved a significant milestone in his baseball career. On July 16, Watson was signed as an undrafted free agent by the St. Louis Cardinals organization.

Local teams take part in 'Midnight Madness'

Local soccer teams, from kindergarten-age to adult, took part in the seventh-annual “Midnight Madness” 4x4 soccer tournament July 26-27 at the Waxahachie Soccer Complex. The event was originally conceived by the Waxahachie Soccer Association as a fundraiser for the scholarship fund in memory of Zane Walker, a 2017 WHS graduate who lost his life in a car accident. The tournament has grown over the years and this year was held over two nights, beginning at 6 p.m. and playing on through approximately 3 a.m.

Road work underway at U.S. 287 and FM 663

Be aware that road work began Thursday, July 18, at the southwest corner of FM 663 and U.S. Highway 287 to prepare for the Texas Department of Transportation to modify the intersection to provide a planned dual right-turn lane on the exit ramp from southbound Highway 287 at FM 663.
