Locals enjoy summer pastime — Cornhole

The original game called “cornhole” was first played in 1883 as invented by a New Yorker by the name of Heyliger de Windt. His early version of the game was played on the lawn with the use of a slanted board, and beanbags were thrown into a hole as the target. And thus, began this outdoor game that seems to have gained momentum over the past few years.

Letter to the Editor: The most American word

Hearing the words “Fourth of July” conjures images in my mind of glimmering fireworks, backyard barbeques, and family time. I am grateful to live in the United States of America, and despite all that we have seen happening in our country lately, I think that most Americans are still proud of the reasons why we celebrate Independence Day.
