Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine has released its preseason high school football state rankings for the 2025 season, and Ellis County teams are very much present and accounted for.
Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman over the July 4 holiday weekend addressed a video that circulated on social media involving a sheriff’s deputy making an arrest, stating that the deputy’s actions were in line with Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures regarding use of force. The video, which was shot by a bystander and shared on Facebook on July 3 by the poster Smash Da Topic, shows the deputy delivering a closed-fist strike to a subject who, Norman said in a media release, was actively failing to comply with verbal commands.
