Firewood: ‘Buy it where you burn it’

To avoid introducing insects and diseases to new areas, specialists recommend only burning firewood close to where it was purchased or picked up. Texas A&M Forest Service urges all Texans, and especially outdoor enthusiasts, to help reduce the spread of oak wilt and invasive insects by taking preventive measures and being knowledgeable when collecting, transporting and purchasing firewood.

Court favors FM 1387 south route

Commissioners buck local residents’ complaints in favor of mobility benefits The long-running saga of the proposed relocation of FM 1387 between Longbranch Road and FM 664 drew no closer to a resolution on Tuesday before the Ellis County Commissioners’ Court. Following discussion lasting nearly two hours, the court voted 3-1 to submit a final recommendation of the southern alignment of the roadway to the Texas Department of Transportation.

Council taps firms for bond projects

The wheels are turning faster as Midlothian city officials are beginning to put the 2021 voter-approved bond projects into motion. Members of the City Council last week approved the construction manager-at-risk for the new City Hall / Library and Public Safety / Courts Building projects during a special meeting.
