The Midlothian Downtown Business Association’s Scarecrow Festival is at its peak this weekend, with entries on display at Heritage Park. Winning entries will be announced on Friday. An Overall Grand Prize (People’s Choice Voted Best Overall) of $500 will be awarded. The MDBA will also issue prizes for the following categories: Judged Best General (18 And Older); Judged Best Business/Service; Judged Best Nonprofit Organization Or Group; Judged Best Teen (6th-12th Grade); and Judged Best Youth (5th Grade And Under). The prizes for each category are: 1st Place: $200; 2nd Place: $150; 3rd Place: $75.

MANSFIELD — Methodist Mansfield Medical Center has named Midlothian resident Crystal Brown its vice president of operations. Brown’s role will focus on general hospital operations with emphasis on patient satisfaction. She will oversee 13 departments including oversight of numerous construction projects.

DALLAS — An award-winning author, travel writer, crime/politico journalist, film producer, and former State Rep staffer recently added artist to her list of accomplishments. Dallas (Bishop Art) resident/ Ellis County journalist and PIO Rita Cook says the idea to paint has been brewing in her soul for many years.

I’m a social media guy. Facebook is not my jam but other platforms are a blessing to me and my ministry. I love the church but can we talk? Sometimes, maybe most of the time the church looks weird online. Here’s what I mean.
