It’s that time of the year again, where eight caring community leaders and their volunteers come together to put on a night of events to support and to ensure the future of the Ellis County 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) youth programs.
The North Texas Food Bank will join Feeding America and other member food banks for Hunger Action Month this September to inspire people to join the fight to end hunger and raise awareness of people experiencing food insecurity across the United States.
I have shared in the past that when we bought our home not too long ago we downsized. It’s been a painful process getting rid of things you thought you needed. A few weeks ago we cleaned out a mini-storage unit, you know the kind with the roll up door and a padlock. For almost two years we have been paying $40.00 a month for storing things we have not used in a million years. She’s now a grown up grad student and first year second grade teacher who lives in a tiny studio apartment in the Montrose section of Houston. We love her but she has been advised that we can only keep her high school memories for so long.

Last year’s Heritage Day went so well, the Midlothian Downtown Business Association decided they’ll do it again this year. Downtown Midlothian will once again be packed on Saturday as the MDBA, the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce and the Midlothian Community Development Corporation partner for the second modern Heritage Day celebration.
With an eye on trying to find savings, the Midlothian City Council went over the city’s fiscal year 20222023 budget at a workshop held last Tuesday morning. Sharply divided at first, a majority of councilmembers eventually came around to agreeing on a total “no-new-revenue” rate of 65 cents per $100 taxable valuation.
