Ellis historians awarded for distinguished service

The Ellis County Historical Commission has received a 2022 Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Historical Commission, a statewide historical preservation program. County Historical Commissions (CHCs) around the state of Texas work under the guidance of the Texas Historical Commission to identify, preserve, and promote historically significant locations, artifacts, and resources within Texas for the educational benefit of future generations.

Chick-fil-A announces new community scholarship program

Chick-fil-A, Inc. has opened applications for its newest education initiative, Chick-fil-A™ Community Scholars. This new scholarship program will award 12 scholarships of $25,000 annually to community service-minded leaders, helping them pursue their goals through furthering their education. Recipients will also have the opportunity to participate in a one-year leadership development program.

Super Combo license users have digital option

Never worry about forgetting a paper Super Combo license at homeagainwiththenew digital tag option from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). Beginning with the 2022-23 license year, Texas residents can purchase a digital Super Combo license (Items 111, 117 and 990) that will authorize digital tagging of harvested deer, turkey and oversized red drum. The digital license option is available through online purchase only when licenses go on sale August 15.
