High-demand TSTC programs offer more flexibility this fall

This fall, Texas State Technical College’s Computer Networking and Systems Administration, Cybersecurity, and Drafting and Design programs will offer students the choice to complete their training either fully online or in a format that combines online learning with in-person lab time – opportunities that have not been available in these programs since before the pandemic.

All bream are sunfish, but not all sunfish are bream

I’m about to open a box of worms with this week’s column (pun intended). I love catching and eating what I and most folks call ‘perch’ or bream. Light tackle, a long shank ‘perch’ hook, a box of worms and we are ready to go ‘perch’ fishing, right? Come to find out, to properly categorize the fish we are targeting, we are about to go fishing for ‘sunfish’.

Hammonds wins runoff for Place 3

In a congenial but competitive runoff for Place 3 on the Midlothian City Council, Anna Hammonds maintained her May 7 plurality margin and won Saturday’s runoff for the seat, defeating Ed Gardner. In final unofficial results announced by the Ellis County Elections Office as of 8:16 p.m.

Veterans’ Court grant gets green light

A treatment court program for veterans may soon be coming to Ellis County after action taken by Ellis County Commissioners during the court’s Tuesday’s bi-weekly meeting. The court unanimously approved authorization for the Ellis County and District Attorney’s Office to apply for a grant with the Texas Veterans Commission for the implementation of a veterans’ treatment court program in Ellis County.
