Perry renews Investment Academy membership

Ellis County Precinct 3 Commissioner Paul D. Perry has renewed his membership in the County Investment Academy. During 2021, Perry success fully completed investment education that is conducted in partnership with the McCoy College of Business Administration at Texas State University. “Perry’s ongoing commitment to continuing education and wisely managing county financial assets will provide maximum benefit to Ellis County,” his office said in a news release.

Ellzey joins lawmakers in opposing proposed farmland tax

On Wednesday, Congressman Jake Ellzey (TX-06), whose district includes Ellis County, joined 28 of his colleagues in sending a letter to President Joe Biden expressing concerns with provisions in the president's fiscal year 2023 budget that threaten the stepped-up tax basis and impose 'marked-to-market' capital gains taxes on property such as farmland that has been held in families for 90 years or more.

Conversation through the Constitution

The motto for Great Valley High School and its 1,400 students in the Pennsylvania borough of Malvern, about 25 miles west of Philadelphia, is “Creating a new age of learning.” It may be helping create a new age of conversation, too. By all accounts, political polarization is growing in the United States, having seeped into schools during the pandemic over what steps were needed – or not – to protect children from COVID-19 and now spreading to issues including critical race theory and gender identity.

TSTC North Texas hosts open house

RED OAK — Texas State Technical College’s North Texas campus hosted more than 250 area high school students on Friday for the first in-person open house held since 2019. Students, guided by their teachers and parents, learned about programs offered at the North Texas campus, including Diesel Equipment Technology, Electrical Power and Controls and Welding Technology.
