A fairly large contingent of Ellis County high school track and field athletes competed this past weekend in the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
The Midlothian Heritage Jaguars (14-7-2) hosted the Lovejoy Leopards last Friday evening, March 28 at MISD Multipurpose Stadium for the right to play in the Class 5A Division II Region II final on Tuesday, April 1. In what was an incredible run of fortune, the Jaguars were never forced to take to the road to for any playoff game this year, as they were blessed with home matches against Waco University (W 6-1); Dallas Woodrow Wilson (W 4-1), and now would come the biggest challenge with Lovejoy — “Coming on down to Cement Town” and the opportunity to play in the Region II championship.

The Midlothian baseball Panthers continued their strong start to District 15-5A play, completing a home-and-home series sweep over Kaufman and opening a new series with a win over Ennis.
