City soccer teams play in advance of showdown

The Midlothian and Heritage High School soccer teams were headed for a belated District 15-5A opening showdown at MISD Multipurpose Stadium on Wednesday evening, as the matches were pushed back a day because of expected cold weather and a concern about frozen precipitation. The Heritage boys bounced back from last week’s loss to Life High School Waxahachie with a solid performance against Class 6A competition in the Mustang Cup tournament in Grapevine, with a win, a draw and a loss during the three-day event.

MHS soccer teams prep for district

After struggling to find their championship form in the first several matches of the new season, the Midlothian Panthers put it all together on Tuesday at the Roesler Athletic Complex and blew past visiting Fort Worth Brewer, 5-0, in their last non-district contest of the regular season. Junior Dylan Cruthers led the scoring with two goals, and Ayden Hildreth, Marcus Manu and Carson Gromacki found the net as well for the Panthers (3-3).
