AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has added a new helicopter to its fleet of law enforcement aircraft. The 2023 Airbus H125 helicopter will allow the Texas Game Warden Aviation Unit to expand their statewide response capacity for natural disasters, search and rescue incidents, air patrols and more.
Although the city of Midlothian continues to grow by leaps and bounds, it still remains one of most loving and quaint Ellis County villages that hold onto its “small town” charisma and boasts of its high standard morals. Former Midlothian Heritage baseball player Myles Mayse has been selected to participate in this week’s Hank Aaron Invitational at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida.
With the flipping of the calendar to August, volleyball returns to the Midlothian ISD sports itinerary this week with the first practice sessions of the year, followed by scrimmages and ultimately, by matches that count.
Michael Watson, a former pitcher for the Nelson University Lions and a native of Glen Rose, has achieved a significant milestone in his baseball career. On July 16, Watson was signed as an undrafted free agent by the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
Local soccer teams, from kindergarten-age to adult, took part in the seventh-annual “Midnight Madness” 4x4 soccer tournament July 26-27 at the Waxahachie Soccer Complex. The event was originally conceived by the Waxahachie Soccer Association as a fundraiser for the scholarship fund in memory of Zane Walker, a 2017 WHS graduate who lost his life in a car accident. The tournament has grown over the years and this year was held over two nights, beginning at 6 p.m. and playing on through approximately 3 a.m.
