Mockingbird Wildflower Walk

Saturday, June 21, 9-10:30 a.m.

Mockingbird Nature Park, 1361 Onward Road

A half-mile excursion of the nature park, guided by members of the Texas Master Naturalists, Indian Trail Chapter of Ellis and Navarro Counties. Participants will learn about the wildflowers, native plants, and animal life of the park. Closed-toe shoes, comfortable outdoor clothing, and insect repellent are recommended. These events are free and open to children and adults of all ages but be aware that most trails are natural surface. Subsequent walks are scheduled every third Saturday through October excluding July and August.

Midlothian Rotary Club Meeting

The Ellis County Commissioners’ Court meets in regular session every two weeks.

Midlothian City Council

Tuesday, June 24, 6 p.m.

New City Hall and Library, 215 North 8th St.

The Midlothian City Council meets in regular session on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.

Waxahachie Toastmasters Club

The Midlothian Community Development Corporation board meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at 6 p.m.

Midtowne School Supply Drive-Thru Event

Friday, June 27, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Midtowne Assisted Living and Memory Care, 910 S. 9th Street

Over the next several weeks, the senior living community will host a school supply drive with plans to distribute the donations to local students in July. Backpacks, notebooks, crayons, and pencils are just a few items that will help students get ready for the new school year. Donations are being accepted now through June 27.

Independence Day Parade

Saturday, June 28, 10-11:30 a.m.

Heritage Park, 234 North 8th St.

Annual community Independence Day Parade and festivities held in downtown Midlothian. Parade theme is America Celebrates! Parade entries will be judged for awards for best use of theme, best decorated, best animal and/or equestrian entry, and the Mayor’s Overall Choice Award. Parade entry registration and vendor registration are now open.

Fireworks Show

MISD Multipurpose Stadium Parking Lot, 1800 S. 14th Street

Mark your calendars for the annual community Fireworks Show, which starts at 9:15 p.m. and can be viewed from the Midlothian ISD Multipurpose Stadium parking lot and surrounding areas. The stadium parking lot opens at 6 p.m. This show is made possible through support from Citizens National Bank of Texas, Midlothian Community Development Corporation, and Methodist Midlothian Medical Center.

Ellis County Art Association

Monday, July 7, 6 p.m.

First Baptist Church Waxahachie, 450 U.S. 287 Bypass

Ellis County Art Association meets the first Monday of every month (except for holidays). Meetings are free and open to the public and include an art demonstration.

Carter BloodCare Blood Drive

Tuesday, July 8, 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
