A decades-long relationship between the City of Midlothian and Midlothian Independent School District was recognized with a resolution presented by the school board to Mayor Justin Coffman, Becky Shuffield, Midlothian Public Library Board president, and Alexis Tackett, library director, at Monday night’s school board meeting.
With the opening of the new City Hall and Library, the school board acknowledged the library’s history as a partnership with MISD since 1984.
As noted in the resolution, for “four decades this shared library space kept pace with the growth of our city, which today includes 42,566 residents, to support readers from toddlers to senior citizens. Although the Midlothian Public Library will move to its new home, the legacy of our long-standing partnership and the dedication to lifelong learning it represents will remain embedded in our community’s foundation, continuing to inspire readers, learners, and explorers for generations to come.”
Midlothian Public Library is open now in its new location at 215 North 8th Street. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, and closed Sunday. With the move, the library’s phone number has changed to (972) 775-7080. Watch the library’s Facebook page and bookmark the library webpage to stay up to date on all the its offerings, www.Midlothian.tx.us/library.
The community is invited to celebration the grand opening of the new City Hall and Library on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m.
