Sue Anthony

It is with deep sorrow that we share news of the passing of our dear Sue Anthony. Sue was born in Dallas, Texas on the 17th of December, 1928. She left this earth and ascended into heaven on November 25, 2022 while passing away peacefully in the hospital due to natural causes, where was surrounded by her loved ones. Sue was married in 1948 to Sol K Anthony (RIP 2015). She lost her son, Stephen Anthony earlier in that same year. She is survived by her remaining children, Don and Suzanne Anthony, Susan Anthony (wife of son Stephen,) and grandchildren Lyndsey and Hannah Anthony. Sue, along with her father and mother, W.T. and Dora Claunch and brother Richard (Dick) moved to Alvarado, Texas in the 1940’s where the family became pillars of the Bethany Church and Community. Sue attended Alvarado High School, where she met Sol. Following graduation, they were married. They later moved to Venus, Texas where they both farmed notable acreage and started a family. Sue became well known throughout the community for her kindness, her friendships and the unbounding support of her children. As her children began building their own lives, Sue became more involved on the farm where she gained the reputation “as strong as any man”. After the loss of her husband, Sue continued to manage a small farm and robust garden, driving a lawn tractor until the age of 92. Throughout her life she also enjoyed travel, particularly to destinations with wildlife.

She had a passion for bird watching, and created a large habitat for them on her farm. Sue was a virtuous woman with unparalleled love, compassion, and strength. There are no words to describe how much she will be missed. Memorial service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to a fund supporting her beloved wildlife or the charity of your choice in her memory.
